Polystar
- Finished
2005

a
cura di: Franco Mannarini
Are you completly satisfied about your last work?
We're very happy with "Polystar: Finished". We spend a lot of time
in the recording and mixing stage getting it "right", which has to do with the fact that we both went to school for audio
recording and really care about the "polish" of the record. In other words, a lot
of bands value the "indie vibe", we value the "pop vibe". We're not ashamed to like polished pop bands like Duran Duran or Ah-Ha and try
to make our records sound great like theirs do. Of course, you have
to start out with great songs too. I don't know if they have the phrase in Italian, but hear we say "you can't polish a turd". I like
to think we start out with great songs, and then polish them in the
recording and mixing stage to make them really shine!
Wich are the most important ispiration for doing this new album?
I think the idea starting out was just to capture the songs. To
simply record them to remember them, like a demo. But then the more we worked on it the more we realized it could really be a really good
album, and in the end it was. It's a lot of hard work to make a record you are truly proud of, but that's what we've done. Again,
we're inspired by any bands that make great records, from Depeche
Mode to Johnny Cash and everything in between.
Is There some others artists that you think important to reccomend
us?
Boston has a really amazing music scene. A lot of the bands can be
found at www.archenemy.com, like Freezepop and Karacter and Chop Chop, but also check out boston bands like Dresdin Dolls, Ad Frank and
Cassette. We're proud to be part of the great Boston music scene.
Are there some others projects for the your future?
We're completing work on our second record at this point, featuring
guest spots by Roger O'Donnell (The Cure) and Boz Boorer (Morrissey's Band). Our first record, that we just sent to you, was
released this Fall but recorded about a year ago.
Is there something in your album that you don't like enough?
We'll, we are perfectionists, so there will always be something. But
overall we're very happy and proud of "Finished". Danny
