Are you completly satisfied about your last work?
Yes. I think I am completely satisfied...and here's why! When I was approached to make this album by this bald headed goatee hipster poet/musician Matthew Niblock, well, it just felt right and I was like "SURE what the hell!" The whole journey of this music I was making was just crazy. I picked up the guitar about 2 years prior and all these songs came pouring out of me. I knew I had enough for 2 albums and I liked Matthew. So he came over and listened to me play all my songs and then we decided to get together every SUNDAY evening at his house with his guitarist at the time GARY WHITE and work on about 10 songs until we finished. Gary is a master on this computer program called FRUITY LOOPS and we recorded most of the songs on this little laptop at Matthew's HOUSE!
It was just amazing. Nobody was getting paid, Matthew just loved my songs and wanted to get them out there. We had a great time and it was lots of work, took about a year or so. I love the album. I like to call it hippy techno in a way. Because some of the sounds are organic like pounding on a table or file cabinet but then we recorded to the computer program and LOOPED it. Had great guest artisits come in like Jack Black who I went to UCLA with. It was just fun times and I'm still amazed we even made this album!!!
Wich are the most important ispiration for doing this new album?
I think I just answered that above. Matthew MOTIVATED me to do it and I'm so glad he did. I was just playing out for the first time at this coffee house here in Hollywood called HIGHLAND GROUNDS. There's NO WAY I would have made this album had he not offered to produce it and put it all together. Glad he came along and pushed me to do this! The songs INSPIRED me. Matthew PUSHED ME!
Is There some others artists that you think important to reccomend us?
Here's some artists I really am enjoying: ROSIE THOMAS, DAMIEN RICE, PATTY GRIFFIN, LIZ PHAIR, LEONA NAESS,TRESPASSERS WILLIAM, JOHN GOLD, EASTMOUNTAINSOUTH, GEMMA HAYES those come to mind right now
Are there some others projects for the your future?
I hope to make a few more albums. I have enough songs for sure, just don't know how it's gonna go down yet. In the meantime, I've just put a BAND together with my hubby Bob White on guitar and Luiggi Debbiase on drums and Pad Aubrey on Bass. We just started and they've been learning a few of my songs and we're gonna play out for the first time this OCT!!! So that's exciting! I'm also an actress and working on a sketch show like SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE called BEYONDO. Hopefully we'll get it on TV very soon!
Is there something in your album that you don't like enough?
No I LOVE IT just the way it is!
