Are you completly satisfied about your last work?
Well, I don't know if one is ever completely satisfied, but I'm very proud of the record. When we
first finished mixing it, all I could hear were the "mistakes," but now that it's been finished for a
while, I can listen to it and enjoy it. I feel like I always want to improve on what I'm doing and try new
things. So as long as I'm breaking new ground and not repeating myself, I feel satisfied.
Wich are the most important ispiration for doing this new album?
I went through a pretty painful divorce at a very young age, and subsequently found myself falling in
love with a series of unattainable women. These songs were kind of my way of dealing with that. The album
expresses all of the things I was too scared to say.
Is There some others artists that you think important to reccomend
us?
I really love the music of an American folk singer
named Joanna Newsom. Her voice is an acquired taste for sure, but her record "The Milk-Eyed Mender" is
really beautiful. I play keyboards for another artist named Inara George, who made a wonderful record called
"All Rise." There's also this guitarist from Chicago named Jeff Parker. He was in the band
Tortoise. He has a new solo record that is amazing-- it's what a jazz record should sound like in 2005. The record's
called "The Relatives," and I like it a lot. Sufjan Stevens is another songwriter I'm a big fan of. Also
a band from New York called Joy Zipper. I think they should be huge stars, but they're practically unknown
in the U.S.
Are there some others projects for the your future?
I've been working on a new album for about a year or so. Hopefully it will be completed before 2005 is
over. I've got about ten songs so far.Is there something in your album that you don't like
enough?
I'm not going to say! I'm a perfectionist, so there are always going to be little things that bother me,
but I don't want that to interfere with anyone's enjoyment of the record.
Cheers,
