Krippaehne - The Dean Krippaehne Jazz Project
2005

cura di: Franco Mannarini
Are you
completely satisfied about your last work?
I'm always trying to make my music better, so no, I'm probably not completely satisfied with my last work - or any of my writing, performance or production. There just seems to come a point where I have to let it go - and let it be what it is.
Wich are the most important ispiration for doing this new album?
I don't know if there's any particular inspiration that I can point to - I'm just always searching, in music, to find something that I think is cool - that moves me in some way and my inspiration comes from anywhere and everywhere - from being an active participant in living life and from daydreaming - from both experience and from observation.
Is There some others artists that you think important to reccomend us?
Currently, I would recommend anyone to go to myspace.com and just start browsing and exploring their favorite genres - there is an abundance of interesting artists in that community. I am discovering new stuff every day.
Are there some others projects for the your future?
I am trying to finish a two new jazz CD projects - One is smooth jazz - it is nearly complete and the other is a more traditional jazz vocal project that I've been trying to write material for and record for three years now. With any luck I'll have both of them completed in 2006. I also experimented with an electronica/jazz project this year - recording 14 tracks. I don't know if I'll release it as a CD project but some of the cuts may find themselves in film and on television as background music. I'm also, currently going to Nashville every couple of months or so to write with other songwriters....
Is there something in your album that you don't like enough?
The main thing that I don't like about my music is my singing - I don't like the sound of my voice - I wish I had a voice like Ray Charles or Joe Cocker or Marc Brussarrd or Tom Waits - but I'm stuck with this thing.... That is probably why I often use other vocalists on my music.
