Danny O'Keefe - In Time
2008 -

a cura di: Franco Mannarini

Are you completly satisfied about your last work?
I am very satisfied with the quality of production of "In Time" and with the balance of the song selection. It was recorded at a very difficult time in my life and is a statement about where I am at this phase of my career.

Wich are the most important ispiration for doing this new album?
The songs themselves are the inspirations because they are like chapters of my life. They remind me of who I am and the people I have traveled with on the Road of Life.

Is There some others artists that you think important to reccomend us?
To be honest, I don't listen much to other songwriters as I don't want to be colored by their work. I listen to people that are much different in their musical expression. I still listen a lot to Miles and to the work of Nino Rota, who has always been an influence. I listen to tango music, Neil Larson, Juanito Valderrama, old jazz on www.redhotjazz.com, King Sunny Ade, a myriad of influences. I listen for tones and colors to add to my palette. I read poetry and fiction for the influence of words.

Are there some others projects for the your future?
I have several projects planned. One a new recording of some of my older songs; another a song cycle I've been working on for many years called "Dreamers" about the Nez Perce Indians of the Pacific Northwest; and a project with a working title of "Olio" that includes writing as well as poetry and songs.

Is there something in your album that you don't like enough?
No. I satisfied with all aspects of the new album, "In Time". There are things of course about myself at this time of my life that I'm not satisfied with, but that is not something that can be avoided or helped.
